  • Lucasarts has finally decided its time to release Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) , after years of delays

  • The story takes place during a war between the Sith and Republic, in a battle for control of the universe

  • The commander of the Sith, Darth Malak, is a gaunt and malicious commander who used to be a Jedi for the Republic

  • After crash landing on a nearby planet, Taris, the real journey begins to find Bastila and restore peace in the Republic

  • Every conversation, person killed, and credit taken will, in someway, change the story in favor of the “evil Sith, or the “peaceful” Republic

  • All I can say is thank the maker for Knights of the Old Republic

  • I would actually go as far as to say that Knights of the Old Republic is probably the best Star Wars game ever made, it goes much further than being a replacement Jedi game for Jedi-jaded SWG players

  • The Sith are lauding over the Republic with Dark Malak at their helm and the game kicks off with you aboard a Republic ship under attack from the Sith

  • You soon escape in a pod and set off after the Jedi, Bastila, who also ejected from said Republic ship, on the Sith controlled planet of Taric… If you have played the Baldurs Gate games then you will know exactly how things work, you create your character at the start from one of three classes and then refine his or her abilities to your tastes

Review by Wayne Santos, with screen shots. Received Editors' Choice.

  • JUMP TO: 9.3 Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Out since Wednesday, 28th January, 2004 by Wayne Santos A Really Long Long Time Ago..

  • Except for a few key names and events, pretty much everything four thousand years past is up for grabs in Star Wars history, and the boys at BioWare have worked hard to create something that would feel quite similar to what we know, without getting sued for using Harrison’s Ford’s likeness! Clever, no? At this time in Star Wars history, the Sith are waging an all out war with the Republic (we can’t call it Old Republic here, because it was 4000 years earlier, and we can’t call it New Republic either because it’s already been around for quite some time too)

  • The Sith have already instituted their “Master/Apprentice” system so while there are only two “True Sith” at any given time, they can train a legion of Dark Jedi disciples and corrupt/bribe/manipulate thousands of normal people to join their cause as soldiers, pilots and other professions in their bid to crush the Republic

  • Basically the Sith are the stand-ins for the Empire in this game (But with MIRROR ARMOR FOR THEIR STORM TROOPERS! WHOO!) and the Republic is… well, the Republic, but still fighting a losing war the way Rebels were
