Merritt Parkway (CT 15)
Historic overview of the scenic road, extensive information and vintage photographs.
In 1923, John MacDonald, the commissioner of the Connecticut State Highway Department, advanced three alternatives to alleviate traffic on Boston Post Road: These alternatives were as follows: further widening of the Post Road, with new bypasses constructed around major population centers construction of a new road exclusively for trucks, running parallel to the Post Road and the New York-New Haven Railroad construction of a new road further inland The first option was never constructed, while the second option was constructed in the 1950's as the Connecticut Turnpike (I-95)
THE PROPOSED PARKWAY POLARIZES: The parkway extension, first envisioned by the Connecticut Automobile Parkway Corporation and later adopted by the New York-based Regional Plan Association (RPA), polarized the citizens of Fairfield County

SAAC - Connecticut Automobile License Plates Page
Thorough examination of the evolution of Connecticut's Early Auto ("EA") series
of license plates.
To start out, I've posted a photo of some Connecticut "EarlyAmerican" plates and also a couple of my favorite licenseplate links
If myexperiences at attempting to find used Connecticut EA plates forsale at this past fall's Hershey are any indication (I found NONEfor sale at any price, at all the the plate sellers I ran acrossin two full days of covering all three flea market fields), theseplates are probably fairly exclusive, and probably worthdocumenting (if not for CT residents, then perhaps for plateenthusiasts outside the state)
The image below shows four variations in Connecticut EarlyAmerican ("EA") automobile registration plates
AllConnecticut EA plates are white with black printing
At the top is what I call the 1st generation Connecticut EA plate
The plate second from the top is what I call the 2ndgeneration Connecticut EA plate
It'sinteresting to note how the location (as signified by theblack-painted square--interesting how Connecticut has alwayscontrolled this on EA plates, but not for conventional bluepassenger plates--I see renewal stickers affixed all over theplace on those) for the renewal tab--ah, make that renewal sticker --changedrelative to the 1st generation
