Mega Man Battle Network 3: White -- GBA -- Four Stars
Untitled review by Eric Qualls. [Score: 4 out of 5]

  • OK, so maybe it isn’t that bad, but for those of us that grew up with old school Mega Man, the Battle Network games take some getting used to

  • Mega Man Battle Network 3 is the latest game that has taken the popular route of adding a collection aspect to the traditional RPG gameplay

  • Battle Network 3 adds a few new gameplay elements to the Battle Network series and is definitely worth checking out

  • For Mega Man Battle Network 3, Capcom decided to release two different versions of the game, Blue and White

  • In the world of Mega Man Battle Network, the Internet plays an enormous role in everyday life

  • Just about everything from chalkboards to toilets is linked up via network

  • Intelligent programs called Navis protect the network against viruses, but they are also sort of like cyber-pets for their owners in the offline world

  • When trouble is brewing online, people have to jack their Navis into the network so they can find the problem and solve it

  • Battle Network 3, just like the other two Battle Network games, follows Lan and Mega Man as they take on the evil WWW organization

  • The gameplay in Battle Network 3 takes place in two environments

Mega Man Network Transmission -- GC -- Three Stars
[3/5] Review by Eric Qualls with screen shots. "Hardcore fans...will get a kick
out of it, but everyone else is probably better off skipping it."

  • It is a 2-D platformer, all right, but it has more in common with the GBA Battle Network series rather than the games of old

  • Mega Man Network Transmission is pretty simple and straightforward, but there are a lot of little problems that keep it from being as good as the Battle Network series or the 2-D side scrollers before it

  • Just like the on the GBA, Network Transmission follows Lan Hikari and his Navi (an intelligent computer program) Mega Man as they explore the internet, delete viruses, and battle with enemy Navis

  • Unlike the GBA games, Network Transmission puts the focus solely on Mega Man and you don’t have to control Lan in the offline world at all

  • Elements of the Battle Network games such as collecting and using battle chips and having to "jack in" are still around, but the main draw of Network Transmission is running and gunning action

  • Another beef I have with Network Transmission is the extremely unbalanced difficulty

  • Mega Man Network Transmission fails to push the GameCube in terms of graphics and sound, and that is a real shame

  • Network Transmission is disappointing all around

Mega Man network transmission - Gamecube review
[5.5/10] Review by Rick "32_footsteps" Healey. "Perhaps the game's biggest
appeal...is in its nod to the original series." Includes screen shots.

  • [] [] [] [] [] [] [] [] [] [] MegaMan network transmission July 07, 2003 Platform: Nintendo Gamecube Developer: Capcom Publisher: Capcom Reviewed by: Gameplay: [5] Graphics: [8] Audio: [5] Replay: [4] Overall: [5.5] Now, as some may be aware, I've been fond of the Mega Man series since the first game

  • Thus, I was rather thrilled with the Game Boy Advance's action RPG take on Mega Man, the first two Mega Man Battle Network games

  • The game takes place between the first two Battle Network games, shortly after Lan and his internet avatar/voice of reason Mega Man.EXE defeat the Life Virus, created by Wily's World3 (or WWW) criminal organization

  • While on the face of it, this has a similar plot to the Battle Network games, the truth of the matter is that it's more simplified

  • Thus, you end up missing half of the joy of the Battle Network games - interacting with situations in the real world, which acted out well to balance the internet portions of the game

  • Basically, it's a merging of a side scroller with the elements that marked the Battle Network games, like the custom meter and battle chips

  • Moreover, this dovetails nicely with the feel of both the Game Boy games as well as the new Mega Man Network Transmission cartoon rolling out
